Kanji Lacquered Paper Earrings that say Love and Money These lightweight handmade earrings feature the japanese kanji for love on one earring, and the other earring (on the left in the pic) says kane, or gold - in the sense of moolah, dosh, scratch, dough, or any other slang term you want to use! You know: money. :-) Hey, these were a commission, and I got a kick out of them so made some more pairs. The earring shown on the right in the picture says "ai", or "love" - "that which envelops the heart" - how's that for a wonderful definition of love! That's the translation from Japanese. The earrings are accented with golden brass chains, faceted black onyx rounds, and golden bali-style spacers. The total earring length including chains is approx. 1½" below gold-filled earwires. These lacquered handmade earrings with Japanese kanji are my original design. The drops are made with several layers of cold-pressed paper, with multiple layers of lacquer added for both gloss and durability. The lacquering process is time-consuming but the end result is extremely strong - I've been wearing my favorite pairs for over ten years and they look great.
